Photography - camera shots and angles

Today we have been learning about the different types of shots and camera angles that can be used for effect when taking photos.

Check out some of the photos taken by Room 3 students today.

LONG SHOTS

These show the full length of people, including backgrounds and are good for scenery shots or for an overview of a location or action. There will be very little detail visible in the shot.

MIDDLE SHOTS
These shots show some background and detail and allow for a sense of what a subject is doing. They usually show the subject from the knees/waist up.

CLOSE UP SHOTS
These shots are zoomed in and shows details/facial expressions, thoughts and feelings. Everything else is just a blur in the background.

HIGH ANGLE SHOTS
These shots are taken from above with the camera pointing down towards the subject/object.

LOW ANGLE SHOTS
These shots are taken from below with the camera pointing upwards towards the subject/object.

Lots of budding photographers in our midst!

  2. I have to agree with Mrs K - we are about to investigate moving images and filming. I hope you don't mind but I think we will use your awesome examples of shots as a way to learn about how they could be used in moving images! Ka Pai, Room 4! :)
