Awesome Readers in Room 4!!

We had a class full of very keen readers today - some who were so keen they didn't even realise that their photo had been taken.

Photographer (Tyler) managed to catch some of the great work in action. Including his own!

Great work room 4 - it is lovely to see you all so keen to read!

Kane enjoys a quiet moment in the library corner to read his chapter book

Annie prefers to read her chapter book in the company of friends

Seamus & James complete a summarising activity using an article about recycling from the weekend's newspaper.

Rueben works hard on an independent reading task, summarising his journal story. He is busy searching for key words so that he can summarise the main idea.

Two groups of girls work well together using reading games that we have borrowed from the College of Education Library. A great way to work on language building skills while having fun.

Tyler works on summarising activities that have been loaded onto the 'reading' page of the Blog. There are heaps of neat activities to choose from.

We've been doing a lot of work in class about 'summarising'. The children have been identifying key words in their text and using these to summarise the page/chapter/story.

It is a really important skill, so ask your child to show you what they have been working on and how they can use this new skill in their home reading.
