What a fantastic afternoon the children of Lawrence Area School have had today!!!! It started just after lunch with the arrival of our local Policeman in his car. He was followed shortly after by our local Ambulance Service and officers, who were also followed by the Lawrence and Waitahuna Fire Brigade.
Then it all got even more exciting as, from overhead, we could hear the sound of a helicopter approaching. It flew right over the top of us, then turned around, flew back and landed in the school grounds!!!!!
Each of the services came in full uniform with all of their equipment, and made a very impressive display in our school grounds. Children excitedly sat in the police car, climbed on the fire engine and looked in the back of the ambulance. It was awesome fun.

It was brilliant. A team from the Helicopter Rescue Office in Dunedin had flown out to be presented with a cheque from the proceeds of the 'Stars in Your Eyes' concert held three weeks ago. All of the school children had helped to make decorations or had written stories for the evening, so they came as a treat to say thankyou. Each student was given a Rescue Helicopter beanie as a thanks from the Helicopter Trust. They are really cool. We all got our photos taken and had a good look in the back of the helicopter.
Bill Bazley presented the cheque to Graeme Gale.
