Weekend news

Hi to all of our visitors. We have come to an end of a very busy week 2. It was wonderful to see all of our parents at interviews this week and to be able to talk to you all individually about your children. Thank you for taking the time to come in and see us. You are welcome to come back at any time!!!

We have added some games to the reading, maths and science pages today, so if you want to encourage your children to be playing some games that will help them with their learning then feel free to check out these new links.

Kia Kaha

We are studying a unit on 'Kia Kaha'. It is a bullying unit which teaches us how to stand strong, be confident and stick up for ourselves.
Today we made statues of what we thought different emotions looked like. Then we reflected on the different types of body language people display when they are feeling a certain way.
Take a look at our statues.

Coin Trail for Canteen

On Friday we had a 'dress up' day to raise money for Canteen (teenage cancer). We were allowed to dress up as our favourite World Cup soccer player or team. Everybody brought coins along to make a coin trail and all the proceeds will be donated to Canteen.

Jackson won the prize for the best dressed Soccer player!

Recycled Construction Art

As a part of our 'Reduce, Reuse, Recycle' unit we have been talking a lot about recycling, rather than creating waste. Throughout the unit we collected a lot of recycleable items and brought them along to school for an art project.
We took all of our material over to the art room and we began to create some 'Constructions'. We cut, we glued, we trimmed, we stuck and eventually we had the basic shape of our creation.
When we had our shape made it was time to start the paper mache. We covered our entire creation twice, once with newspaper and then with newpsrint.

When our paper mache had dried it was time to add the paint. We all painted our construction and added the final details so that they were finished. We had such a lot of fun making our recycled creations.

When the paint was dry we took them across to presentation assembly and shared them with the whole school. They were awesome!!!!
